Provider Finder and navigation: test guide
Release 1.5.0. Use this page to check every change before UAT.
Before you start
This page lists what changed in release 1.5.0 and how to check each part. Work through each section and tick off what you've checked. If something doesn't behave as described, report it with:
- the page address (copy it from the address bar)
- what you did, what you expected, and what happened
- your device and browser (for example, iPhone 15 Safari, or Windows Chrome)
- a screenshot or screen recording if you can
Please test on: a desktop browser (Chrome, Safari or Edge), a tablet (iPad), and a phone (iPhone Safari and Android Chrome). Some checks also use only the keyboard: press Tab to move, Enter or Space to press, and Esc to close.
This page is for testing only. It's hidden from the site menu and from search engines.
1. Main menu
The four dropdown menus (About Us, I'm A, Resources, Blog) should open and stay open reliably on every device.
Desktop
- Hover over About Us, then move the mouse down into the menu that appears.
Expected: the menu stays open while you move into it and choose a link. - Do the same for I'm A, Resources and Blog.
Expected: each stays open. About Us and Blog list their own page first. - Click a link inside a dropdown.
Expected: it goes to that page and the menu closes.
Keyboard only
- Press Tab until About Us is highlighted, then press Enter.
Expected: the menu opens; Tab moves through its links. - Press Esc.
Expected: the menu closes.
Tablet (iPad)
- Tap About Us once.
Expected: the menu opens. It doesn't jump straight to another page. - Tap a link in the menu.
Expected: that page opens. - Tap anywhere else on the page.
Expected: the menu closes.
Phone
- Tap the menu button (three lines, top right).
Expected: the full menu opens. - Tap I'm A, then Resources.
Expected: each expands to show its links, and both can be open at once. - Tap the close button (×).
Expected: the menu closes.
2. Searching for a provider
Open the Provider Finder.
- Look at the search area.
Expected: two clearly labelled boxes, What are you looking for? and Where?, then a Use my current location button, category buttons with icons, a Within … km distance choice, and service filters. There is no separate Search button. - Type physio into What are you looking for?
Expected: after a short pause the results update by themselves. They include providers whose description mentions physio, not just those with it in their name. - Type therapy.
Expected: a list of suggestions appears, grouped under Categories and Providers. Choosing Therapy and Clinical Services turns that category on. - Type telehealth.
Expected: providers that offer telehealth appear first. - Press Tab while the suggestions are showing.
Expected: the suggestions close and you move to the next box.
Categories
- Tap a category button, then another.
Expected: the one you tap turns purple and narrows the results. Tapping another switches to it (one category at a time), and tapping the purple one again goes back to All categories. The buttons never move. - Check the order.
Expected: the categories with the most providers come first. - On a computer, click +N more.
Expected: all categories show. If the chosen category is one of the hidden ones, the button names it, for example "+10 more (Therapy and Clinical Services selected)". - On a phone, swipe the category row sideways.
Expected: it scrolls; the page itself doesn't scroll sideways.
Services
- Turn on NDIS registered, Telehealth, Face-to-face and Mobile services one at a time.
Expected: each narrows the results to providers that offer it. (Mobile services used to show the opposite; it's fixed.)
3. Searching near a place
- Type a suburb or postcode in Where? (for example Parramatta) and choose it from the list.
Expected: results show "… providers within 50 km of Parramatta …", sorted nearest first. The map zooms to that area and draws a circle showing the distance. - Choose 10 km.
Expected: fewer results; the circle on the map gets smaller. - Clear the place with the × in the box.
Expected: the place is removed, results go back to all of Australia, and the cursor stays in the box. - Without a place, choose a distance (for example 25).
Expected: a message says the distance needs a location, with Use my current location and type a suburb. - Press Use my current location and allow your browser to share your location.
Expected: results show providers near you within the chosen distance. - Press Use my current location again, but this time block location in your browser.
Expected: a clear red message explains location is turned off and suggests typing your suburb. Nothing on the page jumps around. - On the map, press the centre on my location button (top right of the map).
Expected: it searches from your location, like the button above. - Look at the map and the list together.
Expected: each result has a number, and the same number is on its pin. The map shows all the results on the page and the place you searched from. - Hover over a result (or Tab to it).
Expected: its pin grows and turns green. The map only moves if that pin is off screen. - Click a pin.
Expected: a small box shows the provider's name, address and phone, with View details. Its result is highlighted in the list. - Drag the map somewhere else, then press the map's centre on my location button.
Expected: the map comes back to you.
4. Results, pages and messages
- With many results, press Next at the bottom.
Expected: page 2 loads and the page scrolls so the top of the results is just below the menu. You see the first result, not the middle of the list. - Check the buttons at the bottom.
Expected: clear Previous and Next buttons with words. On a computer, page numbers sit between them; on a phone it says "Page 2 of …". - Go to the last page.
Expected: Next is greyed out and does nothing. - Search for nonsense, for example zzqxwv.
Expected: "No providers match your search" with buttons that widen the search, for example Remove "zzqxwv". Pressing one brings results back. - Change a filter and watch the results while they load.
Expected: "Searching…" shows at the top and the current results dim. The page doesn't jump. - Press Clear all.
Expected: every search, category, service and place is cleared. - On a phone, use the List / Map switch.
Expected: the map shows your search area when you switch to it. - Copy the page address after setting up a search, open it in a new tab.
Expected: the same search, filters and page come back.
5. Going back from a provider's page
- On the Provider Finder, search speech, turn on Children's Services, and go to page 2.
- Open a provider.
Expected: it opens in the same tab. Above the title is "Home » Provider Finder » provider name". - Click Provider Finder in that line.
Expected: you're back on page 2 with "speech" and Children's Services still on. - Open a provider again and use the browser's Back button.
Expected: the same: your search is kept.
6. Newsletter sign-up in the footer
- Scroll to the bottom of any page.
Expected: four columns, the last called Stay in Touch, with a subscribe link for participants, families, carers and advocates, then the social media icons. The NDSP logo, ABN and NDIS registration are in the row below. - Press the subscribe link (or Tab to it and press Enter).
Expected: the sign-up form opens in a pop-up on the same page. - Close it with × or Esc.
Expected: you're back where you were, and the keyboard focus is on the subscribe link again. - On a phone, scroll through the footer.
Expected: it reads top to bottom with no sideways scrolling.
The sign-up form for providers isn't ready yet, so only the participant link shows. If you submit the form, use a test email address.
7. Provider management: signing in
The provider management page is locked. Only people with an @ndsp.com.au or @april9.com.au email can get in. Signing in uses a code sent to your email.
- Open the management page in a private or incognito window.
Expected: an NDSP page, Sign in to provider management, asks for your work email. - Enter a personal email (for example Gmail) and press Continue.
Expected: a red message says access is restricted to NDSP and April9 staff. No email is sent. - The first time, enter your work email and press Create an account. Enter your email again, choose a password (you won't normally need it), then enter the code emailed to you (from no-reply@verificationemail.com; check your junk folder).
Expected: your account is created and you land on the management page. - After that, enter your work email and press Continue.
Expected: the sign-in page opens with your email already filled in. Press Next and enter the emailed code; you land on the management page with your email shown at the top. - Press Sign out, then open the management page again.
Expected: you're asked to sign in again.
A sign-in lasts 12 hours.
8. Provider management: the provider list
This is test data, so it's fine to change it, but please don't delete lots of providers.
- Sort by Created (click it twice for newest first), then press Next a few times.
Expected: the sort is kept on every page, and the page address keeps it. Reloading brings back the same view. - Type in the search box (press / to jump to it).
Expected: the list filters as you type. Esc clears it. - Switch between Published, Trashed and All.
Expected: the counts next to each match, and your search is kept. - Use the numbered page buttons at the bottom.
Expected: it shows which providers you're seeing (for example "81–100 of 7,636") and jumps straight to the page. - Click anywhere on a provider's row.
Expected: the edit window opens. Change something small, press Save provider.
Expected: "Provider saved", and after a few seconds the list shows the change. - Add an image to a provider and save.
Expected: the image appears in the list and on the public provider page. - Tick a few rows.
Expected: a bar shows how many are selected, with Clear and Delete (which asks you to confirm).
9. Provider management: categories and icons
- Open the Categories tab.
Expected: each category shows its icon. - Click a category's icon (or its key) and choose a new icon from the picker. You can search icons by name. Save.
Expected: the new icon shows in the list, and within a few seconds on that category's button in the Provider Finder. - Choose Use the default to undo it.
- Add a new category with an icon.
Expected: it appears in the Provider Finder once a provider uses it. - Press Export Categories.
Expected: the spreadsheet includes an icon column.
10. Provider management: import and search index
- On the Import tab, download each template.
Expected: the categories template includes an icon column. - One person only: press Rebuild search index, and don't edit providers while it runs (about a minute).
Expected: "Rebuilt: … providers re-indexed". Searching descriptions (for example physio) works fully afterwards.
Known limits in this test environment
- Sign-in codes come from no-reply@verificationemail.com and are limited to 50 emails a day across everyone testing.
- The provider data is a test copy. Changes here don't affect the live website.
